Important Update: Softball SA to Transition from One Softball Model
Published Wed 25 Jun 2025
Dear South Australia Softball community,
This letter is to inform you of a significant decision made by the Softball SA Board regarding the One Softball model.
After a rigorous nine-month review and discussions with Softball Australia, the Softball SA Board has voted not to continue with the One Softball model beyond its current expiry date of March 31, 2026. This model, in place since 2021, involved a shared services arrangement with Softball Australia for operational delivery and oversight in South Australia.
This means that, effective April 2026, the governance and day-to-day management of softball in South Australia will fully return to the Softball SA Board.
We have formally advised Softball Australia of this decision and appreciate their support during this partnership. Softball SA remains a committed member of Softball Australia, and we anticipate a continued positive working relationship at the national level.
A dedicated director and working group will be appointed soon to oversee a smooth transition back to a state-based governance model, working collaboratively with Softball Australia.
We believe this change is in the best interests of our community and look forward to your support in building a strong future for softball in South Australia.
Regards,
Peter Williams
Chairperson
Softball SA
Softball Australia Statement
Dear Softball South Australia Community,
In light of Softball South Australia's decision to transition from the One Softball model, Softball Australia would like to provide additional context and support for this transition. After a period of review and comprehensive discussions, it has been determined that Softball South Australia will not continue with the One Softball model beyond March 31, 2026. As a result, the governance and management responsibilities for softball in South Australia will revert to the Softball SA Board starting April 2026.
Softball Australia is fully committed to working closely with the Softball SA Board during the upcoming months to facilitate a seamless and effective return to a state-based governance model.
Softball South Australia remains a committed member of the Softball Australia community, and we are dedicated to maintaining a positive and cooperative relationship with them, just as we do with all our member states and territories.
We are confident this transition will benefit the softball community in South Australia, and we stand ready to support Softball SA in this new chapter.
