Softball SA launches new 2026-2029 Strategic Plan

Published Thu 07 May 2026

Softball SA has officially launched its new Strategic Plan for 2026–2029, setting a clear direction for the future growth, sustainability, and success of softball across the state.

The new plan outlines Softball SA’s vision for the sport to be “a game for all, for life”, underpinned by a commitment to inclusion, innovation, collaboration, professionalism, and integrity.

Built around five key strategic pillars, People, Perform, Play, Promote, and Platform, the plan focuses on growing participation, strengthening pathways, improving facilities and governance, supporting volunteers, and increasing the profile of softball throughout South Australia.

Softball SA Chairperson Peter Williams said the Board had invested significant time and effort into developing a plan that reflects both the challenges and opportunities facing the sport.

“Over the past 12 months, the Softball SA Board has worked extensively across our community to develop a strategic plan that provides clear direction for the future of softball in South Australia,” Williams said.

“This plan is about more than just the next three years, it is about creating a stronger, more sustainable future for our players, volunteers, clubs, associations, officials and supporters.

“We know softball in South Australia has enormous potential, and this strategic plan provides the framework to help grow participation, strengthen pathways, improve facilities and governance, and ensure softball continues to thrive for generations to come.”

The Strategic Plan identifies several key objectives, including targeting participation growth of 10–20 per cent, improving national performances and representation, strengthening governance structures, hosting major events in South Australia, and using stronger data and metrics to drive decision making.

Among the priorities outlined are developing stronger volunteer and coaching support programs, expanding school and participation pathways, increasing year-round softball opportunities, building new partnerships, improving marketing and livestreaming initiatives, and working towards sustainable facility outcomes at West Beach.

Softball SA thanks all stakeholders, volunteers, clubs, associations, athletes, coaches, officials and members who contributed to the development of the Strategic Plan and looks forward to working collaboratively across the softball community to deliver its vision over the next four years.
