West Beach Parks Unveils Exciting Masterplan Options With Major Wins for Softball Community

We are thrilled to share some fantastic news! Last night, West Beach Parks officially released two exciting options for the Masterplan of the West Beach Parks Sporting Precinct, our cherished home since 1959. Your passion and commitment truly shone through, with the softball community providing more than half of all survey responses during the initial consultation. This incredible engagement highlights just how much this facility means to all of us.

Following your valuable feedback, James Harris and I met with Tredwell, the team leading the Masterplan process, to present a wish list designed to benefit not only softball, but the entire sporting and local community. We’re delighted many of our suggestions have been included.

Key upgrades across the precinct:

Enhanced lighting for all carpark areas and walkways

Additional carparks, especially behind lacrosse and at the southern end of the soccer facility

Community sport standard lighting for Barratt West and Barratt East, enabling night games

Several drinking fountains for people and dog drinking fountains across the reserve

Upgraded and enlarged toilet block opposite the ITF on Barratt East

New playground near the toilet block opposite the ITF

Public toilet block near the soccer facility

Some softball-specific improvements:

Installation of synthetic turf on softball diamonds

LED video scoreboard behind Softball D1

Provision for a new clubroom to replace the current clubroom (space allocated)

These upgrades are just the beginning! We’re excited to work alongside other sports and the local community to ensure the Masterplan can be funded appropriately and delivers a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable precinct for years to come. Our vision is a true multi-sport facility that welcomes everyone, from local athletes to visiting families and tourists.

While these plans are welcomed, it’s important to remember that bringing them to life will require significant funding and ongoing effort from investors. These improvements don’t just ‘happen’, they depend on the dedication and hard work of not only Softball SA, but also the entire community. Your continued support, advocacy, and involvement will be essential as we move forward together.
