Two Wells take out GDSA Division 1 Grand Final

Having lost last year’s Grand Final to Two Wells, Kangas looked to take back the shield that they had owned for many previous seasons, but Two Wells had other ideas battling hard to win back to back Division 1 Premierships.

Trzcinski Back-to-Back

Steph Trzcinski has won her second consecutive Kath Correll Medal as the best player in Premier League Softball. The sensational West Torrens pitcher won with 30 votes, just one ahead of Sturt shortstop Bel White, and three ahead of Port Adelaide pitcher Johanna Grauer.

Grand Final Day in Port Pirie

It was grand final day at Leonard Park on Saturday and the large crowd were treated to some great softball in all grades. Solly Cats could not take out a threepeat winning a final in every grade, but Cougars proved that they are a class outfit coming from fourth position to defend their A1 Premiership title.

THE FAIRY TALE HAS come true, Port Adelaide is the 2021-22 Premier League Softball winners! With a young squad the Magpies looked a real threat to play off in their first grand final this season, but to go all the way and beat the strong West Torrens team 2-1 in extra innings at West Beach Parks – in a real-life fairy-tale ending – just sensational!

Magpies First Grand Final

PORT ADELAIDE HAS WON through to its first Premier League Softball grand final, with a 2-1 victory over reigning premier Sturt on Wednesday night. The preliminary final was a hard-fought game, with both pitchers on top, while scoring was at a premium.

Eagles Through to Big Dance

WEST TORRENS IS THE first team through to the 2021-22 Premier League Softball grand final, after a 7-0 second-semi victory over reigning premier Sturt at West Beach Parks. It was a dominant performance by the Eagles, with Steph Trzcinski in control from the circle (three hits for nine strikeouts in seven innings), and consistent overall hitting from the batters’ box.

Fidge to the Rescue

SO, WHAT IS TO BE DONE when the number one pitcher is missing? Call on her sister! That is what Sturt did in its 4-1 top-of-the-table clash with West Torrens, as Ruby Fidge replaced the injured Millie Fidge, and didn’t miss a beat in her first pitching assignment in Premier League Softball, at West Beach Parks in Saturday’s penultimate round.

Tash Hits her Strapps

NOT ONLY DID Tash Strapps pitch a complete game, she also batted in all of her side’s runs up to the final inning, in Sturt’s 4-3 victory over Glenelg at West Beach Parks, in Premier League Softball on Wednesday night. With regular Falcons’ pitcher Millie Fidge sidelined with injury, Strapps filled the breach admirably, conceding five hits for four strikeouts in seven innings, as well as starting a double play in the fifth frame.

Eagles Make a 'Fuss'

IN AN AMAZING GAME, West Torrens scored a come-from-behind 4-2 walk-off victory over Walkerville in Premier League Softball, when Mary Fuss hit a big two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning, at West Beach Parks. An upset was on the cards when the Cats scored single runs in the first and third frames to take a 2-1 lead into the final inning.

Junior State Championships

The 2022 edition of the Junior State Softball Championships have been a runaway success, hosted by the Hills Softball Association at picturesque Anempo Park in Mount Barker. Besides metropolitan clubs Sturt, West Torrens, Port Adelaide, Glenelg, Walkerville and Seacombe, teams were represented by the Riverland, Gawler, Central Districts and the host association Hills.

WEST TORRENS AVOIDED A fourth-consecutive loss when it proved too strong for Hills on Wednesday night, running out convincing 13-0 victors, at West Beach Parks. From when Dani Bacskai hit a three-run double in the first inning, the Eagles were in control.

Maslin Mashes Match-Winner

IT WAS JESS MASLIN’S time to shine, as she hit a grand slam home run to guide Port Adelaide to an important 4-1 victory over West Torrens, in Premier League Softball at West Beach Parks on Saturday.

Falcons Clear Top

WINNING BACK-TO-BACK games against West Torrens has seen Sturt move into sole possession of top spot in Premier League Softball. After Saturday’s 6-1 victory over the Eagles, Sturt backed it up with a 6-3 win in Wednesday night’s game at West Beach Parks, to move two points clear of West Torrens.

Friday's Pride Clash is Scoreless

VERY RARELY IS A full seven inning Premier League Softball clash scoreless, but that was the case last Friday at Mount Barker, where Glenelg and Hills fought out an exciting 0-0 draw to start the annual Pride weekend. Pride Round honours the LGBTQIA+ community, where people’s choices are respected and celebrated.
